I know, I know. It's been awhile since the last blog. You really have to be inspired to write pretty much anything and that's just the reality of the situation. One thing that happened recently that I thought was really interesting that I was meaning to blog about was this... there is a new construction Condominum in the Upper West Side, The Harrison. Buyers are just starting to close now. Many of them are investors looking to rent out their investment. There were ZERO rentals on the market in the building to compare it to and I was asked by a prominent Sales broker to price a one bed and 2 two bedroom aprtments that will be soon closed on and then marketed for rent. Then I realized that my opnion set the precedent for what every after after that will be priced at. I mean thats unbelievable. That's a big deal. Truthfully I feel good about it, because I know I was honest and correct. But how amazing that it's ME. It's cool. I like it :-) Not because of my ego, but it makes me really feel like hard work does really pay off. And you get what you give. I heard an expression tonight. "Try the rest and come back to the best" It's um kinda silly I guess, but I like it :-) and when it's true, it's true.

To be contined.

It's always a good day when I recieve an email this like one. Thank you Iruka! You're a star.

Adina

Thanks so much for sending this kind note.  As I mentioned to Iruka I had met with over 25 brokers/agents over the past 3+ weeks.  I will tell you with 100% confidence that Iruka was a pleasure to deal with.  Most importantly she was very honest throughout the transaction.  I.e. she never overplayed the apartment or oversold it.  If anything, I feel that she made expectations lower and then over delivered.  Both my girlfriend and myself were very pleased and I would 100% recommend your company to my friends and colleagues!

Best
Jahid

PS...we love the apartment.  What an amazing surprise, nothing what you would expect when you look at the exterior of the building!

The Hamptons is packed and I want to go back to the city. So funny. This is a sign of a true local ;-) I prefer the non-holiday weekends. I may just stick around though because I'm invited to the opening of Copa in Bridehapmton, a new wine bar. I'd like to check it out for reasons to be revealed soooooon.... I have SO much to do next week work wise, it's not even funny. I had an agent go from full time to part time last week VERY unexpectedly so I have to hire someone new under duress which I really don't like to do but at the same time, I am pretty lucky when it comes to attracting the right members for my team. I already have 3 interviews set up for early next week so we shall see. I am also pitching for 2 new exclusive rental accounts and one new exclusive for Sale that I was referred to. This is all good stuff. On the dissapointing end, it looks like I may have lost one of my large acccounts. In a "down" rental market (which for them means in a renters market) they don't want an exclusive broker. It's shame because it's actually kind of closed minded. What they don't realize yet, is that even in a renters market-or maybe even more so in a renters market-the Landlord needs an exclusive broker. It's not the time to panic-which is what they are doing. All I can do is keep plugging away. I was hurt. But at the end of the day, I have other opportunites to focus on and if I let this get me down, it won't be a good thing. I have to keep moving forward. I've been resting up for a good fight at my house and I will be back to my apt in the city, probably Sunday so I can get to work early on Monday. I have another business venture on the horizon, soon to be annouced, which I have a lot to prepare for too. Is this a stressfull enough blog before a holiday weekend?? Ha.. Happy July 4th everyone.

A Day In Front Of the Camera | Print |  E-mail

Filming the TV show was a lot of fun. It's a new show that will be premiering on Channel 11 called Metro Residential. The premise is that they would get to know my "renter" on camera, then I would take him to visit a couple of NYC Rentals then both him and I would make comments on what he saw and the Rental Market in general. The day started out with me getting all dolled up of course then I headed over to the renters place of biz because they wanted to actually shoot him at work. That was set to start at 2pm. In the cab on the way over, I get an email from the Producer that the crew is having trouble with their wireless microphones and they have to to go to B & H to get new ones so we would be meeting at 3:30 instead. I was already on my way, so the renter and I ended up having pizza and wine at Alfredo's. Is that normal? Not sure. But it sure took the edge off the TV Camera jitters, which yes, I do sort of get. I don't think I'm going to be getting an emmy anytime soon. Well, anyway, they did show up at 3:30 and the field producer and camera man couldn't have been nicer. Phew. All I needed was an uptight field producer to make me even MORE nervous. So luckily that didn't happen. She was a doll and we all felt at ease. They filmed my renter and we went to two apartments, both my exclusive listings. I will save the details for the show but the shooting went well and we had a lot of fun doing it. After the two apartments, we went back to my office to do the interviews. I had to do a few takes because I kept messing up my 4 top rental tips! But eventually I got it. By this time the wine had totally warn off and I probably could have used a coffee but I was a trooper. It was a long day, we didn't wrap it all up until almost 8pm believe it or not. But it was a great experience and I can't wait to see the show! We will announce of course when it will be airing, but from what I understand it will be sometime in July. Thanks for the support!

Taping today for a new Real Estate TV show that will be premiering soon. A little nervous, but not a lot. Glad it's not raining and glad it's not live. It funny, we tape 4 or 5 hours and they edit it and turn it into a ten minute segment. Go figure. This will be only the second time on TV. I appreciate the practice. It's fun and the more you do it the more comfortable you are with the camera. Well anyway I gotta run, lot's to do before they come. Wish I slept better last night!! Grrrr. Oh well. I will update later how it went... To be continued.
