me "I have to sneak Luna into the restaurant in her bag, I can't leave her alone in the car in this parking lot"
other person "really? Are you sure you have to do that?"
me "well, if you want to be the person responsible for me loosing my dog if someone steals her, and then I'd have to have you killed gangster style, then yeah, I guess we can leave her in the parking lot"
Needless to say, Luna and I had a lovely lunch (inside!)

9am appointment was worth getting up at 6:30 am for. Great little building on West 71st Street. Walked through with the property manager and saw all the units. The Owner is looking for expert advice on how to maximize his rent roll. I saw one floor that has two separate apartments on it that I think should be combined together and a one bedroom with a very awkward kitchen that I think should be converted to a studio, actually. The Owner of the building came eventually and we had a good discussion about his options. I really enjoy this aspect of what I do. It's great to work for Landlords. It takes a lot of courage to invest in Manhattan Real Estate, especially to buy buildings, so it excites me when I get to work so closely with them on their investment. Speaking of experience, I met a 19 year old girl today who wants to break into Real Estate. She was referred to me by someone I know from the Hampton's. She was so nervous meeting me, her voice was cracking, and I really don't think I am THAT intimidating. The whole thing was really adorable. I told her my story and encouraged her to get her license if she wants to do Rentals. She seemed mature, although nervous, very likable. Now I just have to decide whether to take her under my wing. To be determined.. knowing me, I probably will. I got the feeling from our conversation that a positive female mentor would be a real impact on this young woman's life. Being able to do that for someone is probably impossible for me to resist..we shall see. |

One flat tire, roadside assistance, a 1.5 hour wait at the tire store, a lunch with the slowest service I've experienced in a very long time, getting to the City at 4:45pm instead of 11:00 am. All this on my Monday didn't stop Erin from signing a lease and both Laika and Jenn submitting applications on one of our listings. Thanks ladies for being the only bright side to my day! Well maybe not the only bright side, went to the restaurant opening for Choptank on Bleecker and Grove. Nice atmosphere, nice raw bar (if you eat that stuff) sort of Blue Ribbon-esque but no, not as good. But still worth a trip :) Ha, now I am a restaurant critic. ;) Tuesday Tuesday, 9am appointment in the UWS with a new landlord (thus the reason I am awake) Erin is being such a trooper and meeting me there, just to keep me company. Awww. Then I plan to kidnap her and will drive over the 10th Avenue where all the car dealers are and make her give me her opinion on the color of my new car. Yes, some girls (like me) buy cars based on the color of the thing. This is my new favorite joke w/ all the car salespeople and yes, I get a chuckle every time... :) Fun morning! we'll see how the rest of the day pans out. As long as their aren't any more mechanical failures, I am sure it will be a better day! |
