I have decided to move to a new rental apartment in NYC. I have been looking around and in doing so I've decided that I have to share what is happening to me. Honestly I've had one let's call it "interesting" experience after another. Each time I've gone to see something I've pretty much understood why my company gets so many referrals! All sorts of things are happening out there. It's banannas! These are my stories.
The first apartment I see seems like divine intervention. A broker called my office. She asks for me and says she has a listing she wants to tell me about. So I get on the phone, and she starts describing to me what sounds like a spectacular apartment right down the street from my office. She says she just thought of me since she had just walked by-she was on her way to do an open house. She thought I might have someone I wanted to show it to. Little did she know I was beginning a search for myself. So I ask her if the Landlord accepts pets, she says yes, and I go see to the open house. I get there and my mouth drops open. Not only is it a beautifully restored brownstone, the apartment is huge-the entire floor-and is priced right. There are 5 closets, sunlight, a D/W, the list goes on and on. I apply for it immediately representing myself. She is thrilled that she got someone so fast and everything is seeming perfectly meant to be. I go back to my office to send her the application but first I decide to look at her website to see pics one more time. I find it quickly.. love the pics, see the Pets Allowed, I couldnt be happier..I send her all my paperwork, she says it looks great and she will get back to me after speaking to the Landlord. A day goes by and she emails me saying not to be concerned-the Landlord is just out of town. A day turns into 3 days, I email her again, she says everything is fine just a formality to speak to the Landlord. After a week she sends me an email "The Landlord doesn't accept Pets. I am making the change on the listing. Good luck with your search." I write back "What?! Did you tell her Luna comes to work with me every day?, Did you tell her I go away on weekends? Did you tell her she is 7 pounds and very well behaved?" She writes back "I did." That's it. No I'm sorry for the mix up or anything. I was shocked. Just like that my meant to be apartment turned into the not meant to be apartment and my visions of living there were but a dream. Then there was apartment # 2... To be continued |

I'm joking. I know I haven't updated my blog in awhile. Thanks you guys who told me "update your bog please" I'm baaaack. So the girls from the office came out to visit me at my house in East Hamptons last weekend. I had them close on Friday and we told people we were on a company outing. This is something I rarely do so I just got a kick out of telling people "we are on a company trip-call us on Monday." Peoples reactions are even funnier-they get silent for a minute as if I started speaking Japanese or something. I know. I know. Your boss is probably not that cool ;-) Danielle and Priscilla arrived first. Luna was SO excited and um probably confused. I brought Luna to the train station and she started doing twrils and running around in circles when she saw them. And of course peed. Whether Luna pee's or not is out guage of how happy she is to see you. Erin was coming later on the jitney with a friend of hers, so in the mean time I thought it would be fun if Priscilla made us a spanish food lunch. So we went off to the supermarket, and she picked out all the ingredients she needed, and made this really delicious spanish rice and chicken dish. Daneille made a yummy salad. I went to get Erin then we had this lovely lunch on my deck. So I was thinking we would have anything to drink until later, like maybe after 4pm? Well, I guess it's been awhile since I hung out with a bunch of 20 somethings, because that paln went right out the window. Erin made us a vodka, strawberry-bannana juice punch, which we started drinking, um before noon. Then the girls went in the pool and we just hung out getting a tan. It was really fun. Priscilla was only staying for one day, so I wanted her to see the town a bit. Around 4 we got ready and went over to Cittaneauva for a drink. (yes, there's a theme starting to develop) Sophisticated Danielle got a bellini, Priscilla got this really cool drink I've never even heard of. And I think me, Erin and her friend Jackie had margaritas, but to be honest, I'm not 100% sure. It might have been a mojito. The girls made quite an impression on everyone, super pretty and good vibes, it wasn't long before some guys wanted to buy them shots. I think they ordered Patron. Priscilla traded hers in for SoCo which cracked me up. I didn't have mine. I was thinking long term for the evening-one of the benefits of being over 30. Aftter guacamole and more margaritas at the Blue Parrot, Priscilla had to go. We were sad. We put her on the jitney and continued our evening at Bobby Vans and Copa. We split Kobe Beef cheese burgers and some sort of Tapas plate at Copa for dinner, then we went home to get out beauty sleep-we were all snoozing by 11pm. The next day was beach day. We grabbed bagels and flagels at the Golden Pear and headed off to Main beach. We saw not one but two beach fights. One was a girl who was upset with her Dad for talking to their mother while she was trying to relax. Lol. And the other was these two ladies that sat right in front of this man. There was plenty of room on their right and their left and he politely asked them if they good move over so his view to the Ocean wouldn't be blocked. Well, this lady barked at him that this is a public beach and she can sit wherever she wants. Geez. Where's the love? Well, after getting some nice color, we went off to the VIP tent Polo event. Great people watching and open bar. Danielle and Erin were having whiskey which I thought was very amusing. Jackie and I stuck with good old vodka rasperrys and things like that. It was really fun and we had a great time. Erin entered us into all sorts of raffles and we kept our eyes open for celebrities but I think we were the most famous people there ;-) Anyhoo after that we had a delicious dinner at Pierres. It was so good. Honestly I think he serves some of the best food in the Hamptons. It was great and we were all pooped out by this point and actually went home to watch movies and chill out. We ordered Revoutionary Road on demand and had a blast. Sunday I made everyone breakfast and my signature breakfast martini and we just hung out at the pool again. We ended our company outing with an awesome lunch at the Blue Parrot and a little shopping trip in town. When I dropped them off at the train it felt like they were here for a week. It was really fun and the best company outing ever. To be continued. |
