I'm at the airport. I had a 7:30 am flight this morning which I missed. I arrived 20 minutes before my scheduled departure this morning under the false impression that with just a carry on and Luna in tow, they would still let me walk on the plane. Apparently not. This is when Ms. Ambitious in me usually takes over. First I try good old eye lash batting, then once I realize that isn't working, I move on to trying to get on the next flight or a different airline all together. Turns out I can go stand by for 9:30 at the same airport or have a confirmed seat out of Newark, which is almost 40 minutes away by cab. Grrrrr. Now totally mad at myself for hitting the snooze button one too many times, I decide not to take the gamble and head for Newark. Now I'm here waiting for boarding really hoping this trip will be worth all this effort. I'm heading down to Florida to meet with an investor that one of my dearest clients has introduced me to. I have an idea for expansion of Adina Equities and I'd like to take this next step with capital from an investor.
Not a partner- as by this point I believe I have learned well enough that having a partner in my business would not work for me. But a silent investor, and hopefully one willing to give me an open check book to take this next step. I have an out of the box idea (surprise, surprise ;-) and a clear vision that could pay off big for both me and an investor. As I sit here waiting to board, I can't help but be proud of how far I've come. I mean, a real meeting with a real investor, someone who has seen my web site, heard glowing things from my clients, and read all my press and says to himself "I think this girl has got something" and that "something" may turn into a huge success of a new brand in NYC Real Estate. I know me and my idea have that potential, and that is just awesome. As the possibilities dance around in my head, it definitely makes missing my flight just a glitch and nothing that is going to ruin this day for me.
When you have a small business, one that started as an idea, and grew out of your living room and you follow a path that leads you to a day where you can sit down with people and she em' what you got and say, "believe in me" and they do. Well, that's a good day. |
