On noticing the stand, the eye travels down the stem, appreciating the smooth, reflective surface. And that is where the attention of the onlooker is arrested. There is a hint of color in the base, but since it is so highly polished, where could it have conceivably come from? That is where the lamp gets its mystique – on the underside of the lamp shade, there is a brightly colored panel, either red or blue, with large white polka dots. This panel is then reflected in the stand, making quite a dramatic statement.
