a Renter's Insurance policy!  Many Tenant's don't know that a Landlord's Insurance policy doesn't cover a Tenant's personal belongings. Many Landlord's actually add a provision to leases that their Tenant's purchase a renter insurance policy-and for good reason. Like any insurance, you hope you never need it. But if you do-boy, are you glad you had it. A Renter being required to have it avoids confusion about who is responsible for that is the future in event there is an unexpected event that causes damage in an apartment such as a leak. Plus, it's one of the most economical insurance policies available in the insurance market. At an average of $25 a month for a basic policy, it's well worth the investment. I have a personal friend that sells all types of insurance including Renter's Insurace. Of course I have friend's that do all kinds of things! But I don't publicly recommend everyone in this way. I want to give this nod to my friend Adria Marquez because she has consistently done a great job with the business that has been recommended to her my me and my agents. She is professional, responsive, and happy to have your business. Her sincerity shows. I like that and therefore Adria has earned the title of Adina Equities's favorite Rental Insurance Broker. Her contact information is as follows: Adria Marquez, Riemer Insurance Group, 369 Lexington Avenue, Suite 204, New York, NY, 10017

5 Ways to De-stress in-JOY: Go Ahead, Laugh It Off!

Laughter is an effective stress-management tool that can lead to better overall health as well as a more "in-JOY-able" way to deal with some of life's more stress-FULL circumstances. When we laugh, it naturally reduces the level of stress hormones, epinephrine and cortisol, in our bodies while increasing our body's natural painkillers, or endorphins. Laughter helps us relax, in-JOY, and feel GO[o]D in the moment, as we enlighten-up in a fun and positive way. Laughter promotes peace... within our selves, and within our world... here-and-now. So next time your feeling stressed, why not try and laugh it off. Here's how:

(1) Start With a Smile... Then Laugh for No Reason
Studies show that if you "force" a smile on your face, even if your external circumstances don't warrant it, or you don't feel "happy" inside; it will force the release of endorphins in your body and trigger a "happy response" in your brain that can actually lead to you feeling more happy, rather than just looking happy. Go ahead. Try it! Put a smile on your face... and before you know it... laughter will follow... fake it till you make it.... and the stress in your life will melt away more readily.

(2) Take a Laugh Break Instead of a Coffee Break
Lay off the caffeine and allow a giggle instead. Take a few minutes, throughout your day, to just step back, relax, and in-JOY a good laugh. Through your hand in the air, tilt your head back and let it all goooooo with a big HA HA HA...HO HO HO!!! =:o)

(3) Maintain a Sense of Humor -- Tell Some Jokes
When is the last time you've heard a good joke, or better yet, told one your-Self? I guarantee, you can turn your stresses into fun with an "in-JOY-able" attitude shift if you simply focus on maintaining a sense of humor and try telling a few more jokes in your daily life instead. With a light-hearted attitude, events that would normally stress you out become "laugh-able" moments, humorously absurd, and great copy for good jokes.

(4) Move Towards Laughter
Actively seek out fun and laughter instead of waiting for it to come to you. Watch funny movies and shows, read comic strips, go to a comedy club, see what's so funny "over there"... Find out what everybody else is laughing about. Don't wait for your life circumstances to make you happy, make your life circumstances more "in-JOY-able" by choosing to bring more laughter and fun into your life, no matter what your life circumstances may be.

(5) Find a Funny Buddy to Play With
Find somebody to laugh, play, and be silly with. Make a regular play date with this person. Then make a pact with each other to simply "let go" and "have fun" whenever you get together. Go to the park, swing on the swings, slide down the slides. Do whatever makes you feel GO[o]D! Go ahead... LIVE! LAUGH! LOVE! in-JOY your time together! Just be... child-like and care-FREE!

Positive Attitude Tips

We choose the way we respond to what happens to us. Though life can present us with challenges that feel insurmountable, there are many ways to maintain an attitude that will help you thrive in difficult circumstances. A positive attitude allows people to see a way through the difficult circumstances that life presents.

Surround Yourself with Positive People

Having positive people around you is one of the best ways to maintain a positive attitude. Spending your time with people who focus on what is going well will make you try to fit in and be liked by others. Positive attitudes are contagious.

Meditate On Your Blessings

Sit comfortably and quietly in one spot with your eyes closed for 15 minutes each day. Focus on your breathing and reflect on the good things that have come into your life. If a negative thought emerges in your mind, try to replace it with a positive one. Do not indulge in worrying or feeling angry or sorry for yourself when doing this exercise.

Write Gratitude Lists

After reflecting on your blessings in meditation, you can write them down in a daily gratitude list. Robert Emmons, in a recently published book "The Compassionate Instinct," describes how a group of people that did so felt better about their lives and were more optimistic regarding the future than those who wrote about things that irritated them or anything that came to mind.

Laugh More

Joke more often. Laughing can help you feel more optimistic. Laughter therapy is formally practiced by many people and laughter clubs have been created to draw people together for a laugh. Laughter therapy uses childlike play and breathing exercises to help people laugh for no real reason. Your body does not know whether your laughter is real or fake, but it will ease any tension. People join laughter clubs to practice laughter therapy techniques with others in group settings. The phrase "laughter is the best medicine for the soul" exists for a reason.

Eat Well

Make sure to consume a diet rich with fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein sources. Drink lots of water, juice and tea. Taking care of yourself physically can go a long way in helping you to feel more positive emotionally.

Exercise

Exercising releases endorphins, which are hormones that help you feel happier and more positive. It doesn't matter what form of exercise you do, just that you enjoy whatever it is. Play tennis, ride your bike, practice yoga or take a walk.

Practice Generosity

Doing acts of kindness for others can greatly increase your satisfaction about life. Open the door for a stranger. Help an elderly person cross the street. Give compliments to family members. All these actions are positive and can help you maintain a positive attitude.

Ask for Mike or Yuval. Mention Adina for an extra perk during your move. I've used them two years in a row now. I was very impressed with the work ethic of the crew, the professional manner in which the whole process was handled, and the price.

When I think of the decorative styles “country” and “urban”, a tiny battle ensues between them in my mind. On the one hand, you have quilts, baskets, and weathered wood. On the other, grids, pipes, and white, lots of white. And not only are the objects battling each other but their owners, the sweet suburban mom or touch-minded farmer verses the dandyish art critic or the sullen musician. But a new book, Urban Country Style has found an interesting way to bring the two together, smartening up the country and warming the urban.

This richly photographed coffee table book follows a six-sided design hexagon called F.U.S.I.O.N (Functional, Unexpected, Simple, Integrated, Old, and New). Your not going to find anything about quilt-making here, but you will find New and Unexpected ways to Integrate, Simple, objects in Functional ways. How do you place that beautiful hand-me-down chair with your new cubed halogen-lights? Going beyond the design answer of “make it eclectic”, this book finds new approaches to modernize the old and bring character to the new. Think antique farm sinks with stainless steel shelving, or galvanized pipe and your mother’s antiques. One overall tip that is striking: for more country homes try adding commercial windows or doors rather than the residential varieties, while for more urban homes, elements from a farm supply store may add a new creative edge.  Lots of great, unconventional ideas in a beautifully photographed  hardcover edition.

Gustorganics
519 Avenue of the Americas
212-242-5800
gustorganics.com

There is so much to say about this restaurant and most of it is not about the menu. Now this is not to say that the food is not delicious. In fact, the food offered at America’s first and only 100% certified organic restaurant is wonderful. It’s a full menu (breakfast, lunch and dinner) with a latin-flavor that ranges from grilled organic pizzas and empanadas to risotto and filet mignon. But really the most impressive part of the restaurant is its undeviating focus on “green” and sustainable.

Yes, we know these have become catch-all phrases used by many a marketers to pull at our ethical side in order to sell!, sell! sell! But Gustorganics may be what many of us imagine as (hopefully!) the future of restaurants. Founded in 2008 by Argentinean-born businessman, Alberto Gonzalez, who was struck by the lack of fresh food when he traveled to NYC, Gustorganics abides by a mission that consists of serving natural food to its customers, respecting our health and treading lightly upon the planet. Here are a few of the qualities reaching towards there prominently displayed mission on the restaurants windows : Truth, Integrity, Sharing, Respect, Sustainability, Fair Trade, Healthy:

1. Gustorganics is the first and only certified organic restaurant in New York.
2. America’s first restaurant to use 100% USDA certified organic ingredients.
3. One of the greenest restaurants in the world.
4. The first and only USDA certified organic bar on the planet.
5. Uses only wind energy.
6. Use of solar lighting.
7. Energy-efficient kitchen equipment.
8. Water conservation equipment.
9. 100% recycled paper, bags, and boxes.
10. Restaurant built with recycled woods and eco-friendly materials.

The list goes on and on and this I take is absolutely a good thing and a breath of fresh air. Whether you try the Buenos Aires style steak or the home-made turkey meatballs, you can rest assured that your meal will be chemical-free, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, and GMO-free. Thank goodness the pizza I tried, layered lavishly with zucchini, tomato, eggplant, and squash wasn’t taste-free! Nor was the atmosphere. In the evening the modern-rustic space is dimly lit with tasteful orb-like hanging lights and the natural light coming in from the huge window that runs the entire length of the restaurant. It’s a warm, calm ambiance that makes it good for most dining occasions.
